Creating a student portal account

You must manually create your Student Portal account but going to the New Account Creation page and inputting your Name and your Social Security Number or Student ID. The information you enter will be matched with the information you have on file at NAU. During the account creation process, pay close attention to each screen so that you will know what your username will be. In most cases, your username will be firstname.lastname.

You will then be prompted to select a password. For security purposes, your password:

  • Must be at least 6 characters long
  • Must contain at least one upper case letter
  • Must contain at least one lower case letter
  • Must contain at least one number or special character
  • Can not contain 3 or more consecutive letters from your username

After selecting an appropriate password, you will receive a confirmation e-mail at the e-mail address you have on file at NAU. You Student Portal account will not be active until you click on the confirmation link in the confirmation e-mail.

You will need to know your username and password each time you log onto the NAU Student Portal so it is important that you make a note of what they are and keep them in a secure place.

For more information about how to create a student portal, please reference this document.

I forgot my student portal password

If you have forgotten your password, click the "Forgot your password" link that is located on the Student Portal login page.  You will be required to enter your Student Portal username and the e-mail address you have on file at NAU.  A new password will then be sent to the e-mail address you have on file at NAU within an hour.  The new password will replace your old password.  Remember, usernames and passwords are case sentitive so be sure you have Caps Lock turned off when entering your information.

I forgot my username for the student portal

In most cases, your username is firstname.lastname (i.e. - john.doe). Remember, usernames and passwords are case sentitive so be sure you have Caps Lock turned off when entering your information. If you are certain that you are using a correct password and you are not able to access your account, you must send an e-mail to the NAU Support Department at nausupport@national.edu requesting your Student Portal username information. Your username will be sent to the e-mail address that you have on file at NAU, typically within 24 hours.

Locked out of the portal

As a result of system security we cannot provide you with your original password and you must request a new password in order to release your locked account.

Please go to the following link and click on “Forgot Password?” and follow the instructions to retrieve a new password: https://mycampus.national.edu/secure/Student/loginstu.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fsecure%2fstudent%2fstudent.aspx

It is recommended that you wait 10 minutes from your initial request to attempt your new password. It can take several minutes for your request to process.
Important Reminders:

  1. If you change your email address please notify your campus immediately or send a change request from the student portal. Go to My Profile and click on My Information and select Request Change. In the comment box enter in your request to change your email account. Once the campus has received your request and updated your file the changes will be reflected on your student portal.
  2. After you log into the student portal you can change your password. Go to My Profile and click on Change Password and follow the instructions. NAU has established a strong password policy. Please review the Password Policy located under MY Profile.
